Before starting orthodontic treatment with Incognito invisible lingual braces, the case is studied like any other case, and after the treatment plan to be followed is decided on, silicone impressions are sent to the Incognito laboratory to make the appliances.
In the process of making the invisible lingual brackets at the 3M Incognito laboratory, a set-up of the teeth is prepared to find out what the mouth will be like at the end of treatment.
In the past, this set-up was done using plaster models, which were separated from the teeth by means of sawing and then set up one by one in the manner in which the teeth were to be repositioned.
These plaster models took up quite a bit of room in the office, and archiving them required quite a fair amount of time and space. An orthodontist with 50 Incognito cases required a small room just to archive these models.
The image below shows a plaster model set-up and a virtual set-up.
Incognito has advanced and now offers a 3D digital set-up, a set-up of the teeth before and after treatment, with options to rotate the image and view it from all angles and to leave out the upper or lower dental arch. What we like best is the fact that this is a PDF file that does not require the installation of another program.
We receive a PDF file in which we are able to move the teeth in any direction (see image below).

This type of set-up is easier to archive, as it does not take up any space, and enables us to do overlays before and after. It can be sent to the patient by email and facilitates communication with the laboratory.
